THE (MEREWETHER) BEACH HOTEL

‘The Beaches’ is a place where legacy and tradition are honoured as an unpretentious nod to an era long past. Originally built in the 1800's it was rebuilt in the 1930's as an iconic beachfront Art Deco brick monument. Serving the steelworkers of Merewether for generations we wanted to honour this iconic spot with a rebrand and renovation.

Underneath the alterations and additions, wallpapers of heritage and nostalgia, pub posters and tiles, you’ll find the complex layers and sturdy bones that reveal the truth of what makes Merewether.

We wanted to reflect these layers in the branding, combining the legacy of surf history, a blue-collar watering hole and an Art Deco design relic. Using typography, imagery, colour and textures to communicate these diverse layers and rich history.
